NG28ÄϹ¬ McShane received an ASA North Texas Award for their modernization of Hughes Middle School in Burleson, Texas. Originally constructed in 1970, NG28ÄϹ¬ McShane transformed 165,000 square feet, including 54 classrooms, a new cafeteria with a commercial kitchen, an open concept library, and newly added lab and visual arts spaces. The building also incorporates new collaborative areas that emphasize a flexible and communal style of education where students can gather for one-on-one or small group learning. The firm also performed a full renovation of the gymnasium and a 10,000-square-foot addition to the fine arts wing, adding space to the offices, band hall, choir room, and practice rooms.
